Make History by Bill Whetstone, Class of ‘57 The historical committee needs some dedicated individuals to work a couple of hours a day, at least two times a week in our Historical display rooms.
What to do you ask? Organize, sort out all kinds of printed material, make file folders, re-do display cases, throw out excess copies of the same item, set up 2 and 3 ring binders and labels. There is also labeling and organizing of file cabinets. A LOT of tedious, time consuming projects. We will have some more shelves, cork board, and peg board to work with soon. The NWC wood working classes are getting ready to start installing the new display stuff. If you would be willing to help, please email me at

Hello Knights and Ladies, I’m Ramona Ware ’57, President of the Northwest Classen High School Alumni Association, Inc., and would like to clarify something about which many of you have some confusion, or outright lack of knowledge. I’ve received numerous communications from people trying to contact the “other” alumni group – yes, there are two of us. The Association mentioned above, and owner of this website, is almost 13 years old. We work closely with the administration, teachers, coaches, Jr. ROTC, and student groups, giving monies to them when needed, especially in “emergency” situations. In addition, every year since founding, we have awarded from one to four scholarships, in amounts of $500.00 to $1000.00, to deserving seniors. We also work on searching for lost classmates in all classes, help with reunions when requested, etc. We are available to help with all kinds of problems of NWC, students, and alumni, year round. We also publish quarterly newsletters which are sent to all members of the Association to keep them involved and aware of what is happening with us and NWC. Our dues are $15.00 per person, annually. Reunion information, registered grads, and more can be found on this website, www.NWCHSAA.org. |

Northwest Classen High School HistoryNorthwest Classen High School was built in 1955 to meet the growing need for educational facilities in northwest Oklahoma City. It was designed after a committee of architects and administrators visited and studied forty schools in seven states. The final architechure plan was made by Hudgins, Thompson, Ball and Associates, and construction was performed by the Builders Company. The building was first opened on September 3, 1955 with 10th, 11th and 12th grades. The 9th grade were admitted when the second wing was completed in 1956. Enrollment in 1956 was 2,002. |

The Northwest Classen Alumni Association is a non-profit organization serving alumni and friends of Northwest Classen High School in Oklahoma City. Presently there are over 500 members. The goal of the organization is to be of service to Northwest Classen and to alumni. In keeping with this, the NWCAA sponsors clean-up days, helps out with Homecoming, is collecting historical items and is working to help classes with their reunions, along with a host of other projects. One of the best services of the NWCAA is the membership newsletter "The New Shield". This publication contains information on association events, happenings at the school, reunion notices, and lots of other neat stuff.
